Homes with main floor master bedrooms are in high demand among Cherry Creek buyers.

Why you ask?

They offer easy daily living and an enduring accessibility as homeowners age or as the inclination to climb stairs every day wanes.

However, they’re not easy to find — most homes in Cherry Creek North don’t have main floor masters (also called main level masters). So what should the many buyers craving the standout Cherry Creek lifestyle and a home with this feature do?

It’s not immediately apparent, which is why I outline the top three options for these buyers in this post.

Look in Cherry Creek South

Unlike in Cherry Creek North, a large percentage of Cherry Creek South homes feature main floor master bedrooms. I’d ballpark the rate to be as high as half.

In addition, Cherry Creek South is a great, quiet Cherry Creek North alternative — it provides easy access to the Cherry Creek Shopping Center, has an abundance of detached single-family homes and small yards that support low-maintenance living.

Cherry Creek North elevator workaround

Yes, you read that right. Many Cherry Creek North homes may not have main floor masters, but they have devised a solution.

Cherry Creek North developers are beginning to add elevators to their homes to support easy access to the second-floor master bedrooms that dominate the neighborhood’s homes. Home elevators are not ideal for daily use — they tend to be slower and clunkier than commercial elevators — but they get the job done.

Homes with elevators in the over $2 million price range, like the fourplex on Monroe Street, are moving fast (all but one in that fourplex are under contract or have sold). Their un-lifted counterparts in that price range tend to remain on the market longer.

Think high-rise condo

A few high-rise condos in and around Cherry Creek offer buyers another workaround. Instead of a street-facing property with a yard, buyers can get the single-level living they’re looking for in a building.

One of the top area high-rise condo communities with main floors masters is the Laurel Cherry Creek at 155 Steele Street in Cherry Creek North. These are luxury units and they’re in demand.

Two other options Cherry Creek buyers might not readily consider are two newer construction condos in West Washington Park:

  • Nine Hundred Penn: This six-floor luxury condo building is located just a few blocks west of Washington Park.
  • Wrigley on Penn: This three-floor, 29-unit building features condos in a variety of layouts, garage parking and wine refrigerators (yes, wine refrigerators).
