I recently helped engaged couple Daniel Taylor and Lisa Collins buy their first home, and am incredibly excited, like they are, with the home they ended up with, a two-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath home in Littleton that met their needs. They closed this week! Congrats, Daniel and Lisa!
Like many homebuyers in 2018, Daniel and Lisa began their home search online. A few items on their wish list included:
- Close proximity to Lisa’s work in the Tech Center
- Two bathrooms on the main floor for ease of getting ready in the mornings
- Storage for outdoor equipment (skis, bikes, gear, etc.)
- Somewhat updated so they can enjoy weekends in the mountains rather than at home updating finish selections.
Lisa and Danny absolutely experienced everything the headlines announce about the Denver housing market: several multiple offer situations, homes going under contract well over list, being in backup position, lines out the door to get into homes and more. In the end, their perseverance to find the right home worked out. And I couldn’t be happier for them.
I conducted a Q&A with them about their home search, presented below.
What do you love most about your new home?
The midcentury modern style home, with renovated interior and cool exterior. It has everything we need from functional standpoint, including two bathrooms on the main floor and tons of storage for our outdoor gear.
What was the journey like buying your home?
We took a lot of time to tour homes in various neighborhoods. We easily toured more than 30 homes. The process was stressful at times. However, ultimately, we got the house we wanted.
What surprised you most about the homebuying process?
The pressure put on buyers to move quick because it is a strong seller’s market.
Why did you want to move to Denver?
Prior to moving to Denver, we were living in California. We had lived in Colorado for a brief period a few years ago. We moved back for the quality of life, SKIING and outdoor activities. Also, we have access to a more affordable home and the lifestyle we enjoy!
